Student Success and Taxpayer Savings Plan Passed by Education and Workforce Committee

Yesterday, the Education and Workforce Committee passed the Student Success and Taxpayer Savings Plan, one part of a larger bill to provide tax relief for American families and small businesses.

The legislation will now head to the Budget Committee before it is considered on the House Floor.

This bill would "not only would save taxpayers over $350 billion but also bring much-needed reform in three key areas: simplified loan repayment, streamlined student loan options, and accountability for students and taxpayers," said Education and Workforce Committee Chairman, Tim Walberg (R-MI).

A portion of the bill also includes regulatory relief and would permanently repeal the Gainful Employment rule which unfairly targeted one sector of higher education.

AACS will continue to keep members updated on this matter.
