Message from the Executive Director, Cecil Kidd
Hello AACS Members,
I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for being a part of AACS this year. It’s been an incredible year for our organization, and I’m so proud of what we’ve accomplished.
Over the past 18 months, we’ve welcomed over 175 new school members, which is the biggest growth we’ve seen in the past decade or more. Your annual dues help us continue to be the leading advocate for beauty, barber, and wellness education in Washington, D.C., and state capitols across the nation.
Notably, AACS stepped in when the Department of Education tried to close most beauty, barber, and wellness schools in the United States through an unfair Gainful Employment rule. We quickly filed a legal challenge against the Department, and even though the case is still ongoing, we’re confident that we’ll succeed in overturning this unjust rule.
In addition to our advocacy efforts, we’ve seen a huge increase in member communications, monthly webinars, and an unforgettable annual conference, among other improvements and successes. We can only achieve these goals with your support and involvement. This coming year, we hope to see a record number of members involved in the committees that are so important to supplement the efforts of the AACS Board and staff. If you haven’t already, please sign up here.
I also want to take a moment to thank my amazing staff, Kimber, Jessica, and Amanda, for their hard work and dedication to the Association. They’re here to help and support our membership, and we’re so grateful for them. We’d love to see more schools share the great things you’re doing in your campuses. If you have any questions, comments, or submissions, just send them to membership@myaacs.org.
Lastly, it’s time for annual dues billing. Please keep an eye out for your annual dues invoice in your email and mailbox. I’d like to personally ask each of our schools to renew for 2025. Together, we’re stronger and more successful. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out.
Wishing everyone a happy holiday season and a wonderful New Year!
Sincerely, |
